If you have never experienced pattern-focused emotional work before, one of the first questions is practical:
“What actually happens in the session?”
You may know that you keep overthinking the same decisions. You may procrastinate when something matters, say yes when you want to say no, withdraw when a relationship becomes emotionally close, or hold yourself back around visibility, success or change.
You can understand the pattern intellectually and still repeat it.
A RECODE Pattern Breakthrough Session is designed around one specific recurring emotional or subconscious pattern rather than trying to solve every area of your life at once.
The work follows the architecture of the RECODE Method™:
Reveal → Ease → Clear → Overwrite → Define → Embody
The aim is not to promise that one session will permanently resolve a problem. The aim is to create a structured space to identify the pattern, understand what may be maintaining it, work with the emotional material connected to it, and begin developing greater choice in how you respond.
What the session is—and what it is not
RECODE is a proprietary framework created by Sofia Joghee for exploring recurring emotional and subconscious patterns.
It is not a diagnosis, medical treatment, or guarantee of transformation. It is also not a claim that every problem has a hidden subconscious cause.
Sometimes a problem is primarily practical. Sometimes it involves skills, habits, environment or circumstances. Sometimes there is an emotional pattern worth exploring.
The session is intended to investigate rather than assume.
You begin with one pattern
A focused session starts with something specific.
For example:
“Every time something starts going well, I find a reason to pull back.”
Or:
“I know I need to set boundaries, but when someone is disappointed with me, I give in.”
Or:
“I keep delaying the work that matters most to me.”
Or:
“I understand why I overthink, but I still do it when the decision actually matters.”
The first step is to make the pattern concrete:
What happens?
When does it happen?
What triggers it?
What do you feel?
What do you think?
What do you do next?
What happens afterwards?
This is the logic of Reveal.
Phase 1: Reveal — making the pattern visible
Reveal is the assessment and discovery part of RECODE.
Instead of starting with a judgement such as:
“I am self-sabotaging.”
the process gets specific.
A pattern might look like:
Opportunity → excitement → pressure → overthinking → withdrawal
Or:
Request → guilt → fear of disappointing someone → automatic yes
Or:
Important goal → high expectations → fear of getting it wrong → delay → self-criticism
The visible behaviour is only the final part of the sequence. Reveal asks what happens before it.
The exploration may include recurring emotional responses, interpretations, beliefs and significant experiences associated with the pattern.
It does not require the assumption that there is one predetermined “root cause.” The goal is greater precision.
The behaviour may not be the real problem
Suppose someone says:
“I procrastinate.”
That describes the behaviour.
A pattern-focused exploration may reveal something more specific:
Important task → fear of evaluation → pressure to make it perfect → repeated checking → temporary relief → further delay
Now the question changes.
It may no longer be simply about discipline.
Similarly:
“I people-please”
may become:
Someone is disappointed → I feel responsible → I fear rejection → I say yes → immediate relief → later resentment
A label tells you what happened.
A pattern shows you how it keeps happening.
Phase 2: Ease — creating enough space to explore
Once the pattern is identified, the process moves into Ease.
Recurring responses can carry emotional intensity. If you are exploring fear, shame, guilt, anger, grief or vulnerability, simply analysing the situation may not be enough.
Ease is about creating enough steadiness to observe and work with the emotional response rather than immediately reacting to it.
It is not about pretending the emotion is not there.
It is not about forcing yourself to “think positive.”
And it is not about demanding that difficult emotions disappear.
It is about creating space to explore.
Phase 3: Clear — exploring what keeps the pattern active
Clear explores material that may continue to maintain the familiar response.
This can include:
- recurring interpretations
- emotional associations
- learned responses
- limiting beliefs
- meanings attached to significant experiences
- situations that repeatedly reinforce the same response
For example, someone may consciously want greater visibility at work while repeatedly feeling that being visible is exposing or likely to lead to criticism.
Clear explores that gap.
Does the work go into the past?
It can, when relevant.
If a current response appears connected to earlier learning or significant experiences, the pattern may be traced backwards.
The purpose is not to search for a dramatic story. It is to understand the learning or emotional association that may still influence the present.
RECODE does not claim that memories can simply be erased.
Phase 4: Overwrite — working with the established pattern
Overwrite is the deeper memory-rewriting stage of the RECODE framework.
“Overwrite” does not mean literally deleting a memory.
Within RECODE, it refers to working with an established emotional pattern and creating space for a different association, meaning or response.
For example:
“I become anxious when I am about to succeed.”
That is awareness.
Deeper pattern work asks:
What does success mean to me?
What response was learned around it?
What happens emotionally when I approach that situation now?
What could a different internal response look like?
The exact process varies according to the person and the pattern. The purpose is to work with the identified pattern rather than simply talk about it.
Phase 5: Define — deciding what you want to move toward
RECODE does not stop at:
“Now I understand what is wrong.”
That can leave you highly skilled at analysing the past without becoming clear about the future.
Define asks:
What do you want to believe about yourself?
How do you want to respond?
What would healthier boundaries look like?
What would success look like if it did not require abandoning yourself?
What would a healthier relationship with uncertainty look like?
The aim is not only to reduce an old response.
It is to become clearer about what you want to build in its place.
Phase 6: Embody — bringing the work into real life
The final phase is Embody.
Suppose you recognise a people-pleasing pattern.
Understanding it is one thing.
What happens the next time someone is disappointed with you?
Suppose you recognise that perfectionism keeps you stuck.
What happens when you submit work that is good rather than perfect?
Suppose you recognise that you withdraw when you feel vulnerable.
What happens when you remain present instead of automatically creating distance?
Embody brings the work toward real situations.
The goal is not to perform a new personality. It is to develop greater choice in situations where the old response once felt automatic.
Does every session go through all six phases?
Not necessarily.
The six phases describe the architecture of the RECODE Method. Real therapeutic work can be iterative.
A pattern may need more exploration. Emotional intensity may require returning to regulation. A later response may reveal something that needs to be clarified earlier.
The process should not be understood as a rigid checklist in which every phase must be completed in one sitting.
There is also no universal promise about how many sessions a particular issue will require.
What might you actually experience?
There is no single emotional experience that everyone should have.
You might experience:
- greater clarity about a recurring reaction
- emotional awareness
- a sense of recognition
- discomfort while exploring a familiar pattern
- relief from being able to describe the pattern precisely
- new questions about an old belief
- a clearer sense of what you want to change
You might also find that nothing dramatic happens in the moment.
That does not automatically mean the session was unsuccessful.
There is no required emotional release, no requirement to remember a dramatic childhood event, and no guarantee of a sudden breakthrough.
Pattern Breakthrough Session describes the intention of working deeply with a recurring pattern, not a promise of a particular outcome.
What if I become emotionally activated?
Emotional safety matters.
The RECODE framework places Ease before deeper pattern work because sufficient steadiness is important when exploring difficult material.
If strong emotional activation emerges, the work can shift toward stabilisation rather than forcing deeper exploration.
A session should not be treated as a test of how much emotional pain you can tolerate.
If you have significant mental-health symptoms, trauma-related concerns, medical issues or another need requiring specialised assessment, appropriate professional care should take priority.
Is RECODE the same as hypnotherapy or EFT?
No.
RECODE is a distinct framework created by Sofia Joghee and is defined by its six-phase structure:
Reveal → Ease → Clear → Overwrite → Define → Embody
It can incorporate approaches relevant to emotional and subconscious pattern work, but RECODE should not simply be presented as another name for hypnotherapy or another individual technique.
The six-phase framework is the organising structure.
Who might find a Pattern Breakthrough Session relevant?
A one-to-one session may be relevant if you recognise a recurring pattern involving:
- self-sabotage
- self-doubt
- procrastination
- perfectionism
- people-pleasing
- overthinking
- emotional avoidance
- relationships
- visibility
- success
- career or life transitions
- repeated reactions that seem difficult to change through insight alone
The key is repetition.
You are not only asking:
“How do I fix this problem?”
You are asking:
“Why does this response keep happening, and what happens underneath it?”
Who may not need RECODE?
Not every problem requires pattern work.
You may simply need clearer information, a practical plan, a new skill, better time management, a conversation, a boundary, rest, medical evaluation or psychological assessment.
RECODE should not be positioned as the answer to everything.
A responsible approach begins by understanding what kind of help the situation actually requires.
What happens after the session?
The work does not end when the conversation ends.
The Embody principle matters because the real test of any new understanding is what happens in ordinary life.
You may begin noticing:
“There is the old reaction.”
That awareness can create a pause.
And in that pause, there may be more choice.
The goal is not to monitor yourself constantly. It is to become more aware of moments when an old pattern would previously have taken over automatically.
How much does a RECODE Pattern Breakthrough Session cost?
The current PureCuring content plan lists the 1:1 Pattern Breakthrough Session at ₹5,000.
The session is positioned as focused pattern exploration rather than an open-ended attempt to address every issue in your life.
A simple example
Imagine a client says:
“Every time an opportunity starts going well, I pull back.”
Reveal: The pattern becomes specific: opportunity → excitement → pressure → self-doubt → withdrawal.
Ease: The client learns to stay present with the emotional response rather than immediately reacting.
Clear: The work explores beliefs and emotional associations connected with success, visibility or evaluation.
Overwrite: The established response is explored to create space for a different association or response.
Define: The client becomes clearer about how they want to relate to success and visibility.
Embody: The new intention is brought into a real-world situation where the old response might normally appear.
This is illustrative, not a script. A real session is adapted to the person and the pattern.
What makes a breakthrough meaningful?
A breakthrough does not necessarily mean a dramatic emotional moment.
Sometimes it is:
“I can finally see what happens immediately before I do this.”
Or:
“I thought the problem was my behaviour. Now I can see the emotional sequence around it.”
Or:
“I know what I want my response to be the next time this happens.”
RECODE places emphasis on moving from:
Reveal → Ease → Clear → Overwrite → Define → Embody
so that understanding can become connected to lived response.
What you should not expect
A responsible Pattern Breakthrough Session should not be sold on promises such as:
- one session will permanently fix you
- every problem has one hidden root cause
- memories can simply be erased
- emotional release guarantees transformation
- RECODE replaces mental-health treatment
- everyone will experience the same breakthrough
- a particular outcome is guaranteed
The purpose is more grounded:
to explore a recurring pattern carefully and create greater possibility for a different response.
If you are considering a session
Before booking, ask yourself:
What specific pattern do I want to explore?
Where does it show up?
What usually triggers it?
What do I feel immediately before I respond?
What do I typically do?
What does that response give me in the short term?
What does it cost me over time?
You do not need to know all the answers.
Having one recurring pattern in mind can simply make the session more focused.
A PureCuring Pattern Check
If you are not sure whether what you are experiencing is a recurring pattern or a practical problem, the RECODE Pattern Check can be a useful starting point.
It is a self-reflection tool for pattern awareness, not a clinical diagnosis.
If you already recognise the pattern and want focused one-to-one exploration, the RECODE Pattern Breakthrough Session is the direct support pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens in a RECODE Pattern Breakthrough Session?
The session begins with a specific recurring pattern and explores the sequence around it. Depending on the pattern, the work may move through elements of Reveal, Ease, Clear, Overwrite, Define and Embody. The process is not a rigid checklist and outcomes vary.
How long is a RECODE session?
There is no universal session timeline stated for every pattern. The appropriate depth and number of sessions can depend on the person, the pattern and what they are seeking to explore.
Do I need to remember my childhood?
No. RECODE does not assume that every current difficulty comes from childhood. Earlier experiences may be explored when relevant to the recurring pattern, but the purpose is to understand the pattern rather than force a particular origin story.
Will I experience an emotional release?
There is no required emotional release. Some people may experience emotion while exploring a pattern; others may experience greater clarity without a dramatic emotional response. A specific experience is not guaranteed.
Does RECODE erase memories?
No. The term Overwrite does not mean literally deleting memories. Within the framework, it refers to working with an established emotional pattern and creating space for a different association, meaning or response.
Is RECODE hypnotherapy?
RECODE is a distinct framework created by Sofia Joghee. It is not simply another name for hypnotherapy, although relevant approaches may inform aspects of emotional and subconscious pattern work.
Can one RECODE session solve my problem?
No particular outcome or number of sessions is guaranteed. A session is designed to explore a specific recurring pattern in a structured way. Some issues may require deeper or different forms of support.
Who is a RECODE Pattern Breakthrough Session for?
It may be relevant for people who recognise recurring patterns involving self-sabotage, self-doubt, procrastination, perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking, relationships, visibility, success or life transitions and want focused one-to-one exploration.
Is a RECODE session a replacement for therapy or medical care?
No. RECODE is not a medical treatment or mental-health diagnosis. Where appropriate, qualified medical or mental-health care should be sought.
How much does the session cost?
The current PureCuring content plan lists the 1:1 Pattern Breakthrough Session at ₹5,000.
